Menhera, AKA 'Yamikawaii', refers to a creepy-cute subculture that juxtaposes adorable aesthetics with icons that relate to disability and mental health struggles, pushing back against a culture that seems to think such issues can only be adult and serious.
Dreamy Kawaii, or Yumekawaii, is a fashion movement that hasn't made as many waves outside of Japan as menhera has- Though both have roots in the fairy kei aesthetic! If menhera is "fairy kei but a little fucked up", dreamy kawaii is "fairy kei that got sleepy". The pastels are not as bright, the themes are not as enthusiastic. I think it's adorable!
